First of all thanks again for agreeing to answer some questions. just
to clarify, I am relatively new to Diamatregon, I picked up the Blasphemy CD and I have the Chargonard 7", but anything before that is pretty much impossible to find. I'll try not to repeat anything you've covered in other interviews. and now onwards...
1. Diamatregon started out as a solo project correct? when did you start playing with the line-up that appeared on the "Blasphemy for Satan" CD?
I made 3 demos as a one man band.
For the first album : THE SATANIC DEVOTION, we became 3.
KruKKa appeared previously on the Vinbâr forst demo as session drummer.
and 'URL was the one in Molochios, we made a split demo with that band.
they naturally end up in Diamatregon.
2. I understand you and the other band members live in different countries? who lives where?
I don't know who lives where and where is what.
I moved from Norway to Guyana, KruKKa is still in Norway, but out of the
band.
'URL lived sometimes in Indonesia.
But what the fuck, satan is everywhere. certainly less in Norway than
anywhere.
3. I think the recording quality of "Blasphemy for satan" is fantastic, without giving away too many of your secrets, can you tell us a little about the recording techniques/process you used to make that record?
Homerecording
4. more specifically I think Diamatregon has some of the best drum sounds in black metal, can you tell us a little about the drummer Krukka's set up and the recording process?
A friend lend us some microphones for Blasphemy, but for Charognard, we
just have vocals microphones for the drums.
KruKKa Plays fast, but HARD and Loud, that's the important.
So many drummers plays fast but Kick as a mouse. it is not clicking,
that's beating what we need
5. in the liner notes of the Chargonard 7", it seems to indicate that many of the tracks were recorded a long time before its release....some as early as 1999 I think? can you tell us a bit about these tracks? were they lying around for a while waiting to be
finished? how much of the Ep was recorded as a whole band, if any?
actually, that's the intro of Everlasting death.
That song appears on the first demo "between the devil and the deep blue
sea" from 1997
We rerecorded that song , but kept the intro intact cause it was the
perfect feeling.
all others tracks are from 2003, recorded in a garage being me sick,
then 'url sick, then me sick again...
too cold really.
6. I've read that Diamatregon does not play live, was this always true? were there any live Diamatregon preformances? what were they like?
We played 5 times or something like that.
no tour, just separated performances.
that was total mess, sometimes hell.
We played in Basments, in places called "apokalypse" bar, in squats, in
street...
7. do you have any plans for future Diamatregon live shows? tours? or is this a recording only kind of band?
we would like to play again. we need to focus on that . maybe one day.
8. the French black metal scene seems to be particularly vibrant in the past few years, bands like Antaeus, Deathspelll Omega etc etc....is there any sort of scene? or do bands pretty much do their things in isolation?
there is both.isolation, and gatherings.
who take part of what would take a life to follow.
9. what are your thoughts on why so much good black metal is coming out of France in recent years?
Maybe because france never get attention in the metal scene.
so that is a place that still have unprofessionalism, or not so standard
sounds
10. can you tell us a little bit about what to expect with the new record?
I don't know what to expect with our next album.
That's more the continuation of charognard than Blasphemy for Satan. "crossroad" will be something with less definition.
11. at what stage of completion is the new record? is some/any of it recorded already?
Now, January 2007, everything is recorded. we have a raw mix.
may stay as it is ?
12. Diamatregon's recorded work seems to me to have a really punk rock kind of attack, very lo fi and way in the red, a lot of emphasis is put on the ferocity of the musical performance, the playing is very fast but all the instruments are well represented in the mix (unlive a lot of "primitive" and "lo-fi" BM recordings).....this could describe a lot of BM records but I'm interested to know your thoughts on the connections between Black Metal and punk rock/hardcore. Bands like Darkthrone and Ildjarn stand out as pioneering examples that incorporated a lot of the simplicity and visceral ferocity, do you think Diamatregon has a noticeable punk quality? and if so was this intentional?
Yes.
13. what do you do for a day job? does it suck or do you like it ok?
I like, but it takes too much of my time. I need to create for myself,
not for someone else.
14. what records besides black metal records are you currently listening to? I know you've expressed appreciation for Acid Mother's Temple, Nick Cave, and others....what other current artists do you find yourself listening to?
I do listen to old samael and forgotten woods.
15. what are your thoughts on the rise in popularity of Black Metal in the more mainstream indie press?
hum, good when it speaks about todays records, but bad when it speaks
about old stuff.
I remember reading a Darkthrone transylvanian review in a magazine
released in september 2006
stupid.
16. is either "Blasphemy for Satan" or the new record going to see a vinyl release?
Don't know.
17. any plans for reissuing any of the older recordings, since they are all pretty much impossible to find?
THE SATANIC DEVOTION might be released on a Brazilian company
perfectly what we need.
18. anything I may have missed.....any questions you'd like to ask us....anything you want to mention that you feel should be noted? thanks very much, and I can't wait to hear the new record. good luck with everything in the future.
I go for a beer.
more frustration for more creations and desire !
thks.
